Kilimanjaro Day Hike

Kilimanjaro Mountain day hike is the perfect way to explore and experience Kilimanjaro natural beauty on just a day, this is if you are not quite sure whether you are ready for a full Kilimanjaro adventure experience. Knowing that there are travelers who might want to take one of our shorter Kilimanjaro trips, we have carefully designed some itineraries that will allow you to have an experience for a full day hike in the Kilimanjaro national park. These itineraries will cover for only one or two days on the mountain of which we believe will be enough to give you a full picture of what it takes to be part of a Kilimanjaro trekking expedition. It is the perfect adventure if you travel with children who are not ready for the full hike yet, or if your holiday is too short but you still want to enjoy the trip. This kind of hike allows you to reach the lower camps of Kilimanjaro, rummaging into pristine tropical wilderness, and see breathtaking landscapes around Mt Kilimanjaro. There are three routes for this hike, including the hike through the lush Marangu route, Machame Rainforest route, and across the expansive Shira Plateau. If you choose a hike through the Marangu route you will be able to see black-and-white colobus monkeys living in the branches of tropical trees growing along the hiking trails. A day hike through Marangu Kilimanjaro, is a trip that leads you up to Mandara Hut and back to the entry gate then a transfer back to the pick-up point will follow. The Shira route will start after registrations at the Londorossi entry gate where you will continue with a drive to the Morrum Barrier where you start your hike through the upper heather / moorland and into the Alpine desert. You hike around 2-4 hours until you are at the Shira Plateau, this route has a super view and is great for low, medium, or higher fitness explorers as it’s a route with no extreme steep ascent. When on this route you always have the option to hike longer / further (time and pace permitting). After a picnic lunch you descend through the same trail back to the Morrum barrier where your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to the pick-up point. The other route is the Machame route which this is tough and not great for a day hike as it requires much fitness, you will be hiking through tough steep trails through the rainforest for estimated 4-5 hours until you reach the Machame camp where you will have your lunch and later you descend back through the forest trail back to the park gate (estimated 3-4 hours), your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to pick point.
