Arusha national park is comparatively small and a closest national park to Arusha town in the northern Tanzania the leading Tanzania’s safari capital. The park covers 552kilometres square approximately to 212miles which due to its size allows visitors to discover the rich diversity of habitats and wildlife in a day or half day. Despite its size the park has so many to offer ranging from montane forest inhabited by inquisitive blue monkeys and colorful turacos and trogons, acrobatic black and white colobus monkeys are easily sighted in Arusha national park; in the midst of the forest stands the spectacular Ngurdoto crater whose steep rocky cliffs endorses a wide marshy floor dotted with herds of Buffalos and warthogs. Further north encompasses the tranquil beauty of the Momella Lake where hundreds to thousands of greater and lesser flamingos calls it a home, migrant water fowl, shaggy waterbucks are also sighted around the Lake. Giraffes, Zebras herds glide across the grass hills are also common to see. Though uncommon to spot elephants, Lions and other few enormous herds and predators in this park, Leopards and spotted Hyenas may be seen slinking around in the early morning and late afternoon. Some best views of the Mount Kilimanjaro are seen from Arusha national park and particularly from the peak of Mount Meru “A Kilimanjaro unassuming cousin”. Mount Meru is a fifth highest mountain in Africa which excels to 4566 meters approximately to 14990 feet which dominates the park horizon and it offers a rewarding hiking destination in its own right. Begin with a hike passing through wooded savannah where herds of buffalos and giraffes are frequently encountered before entering the dense montane forests, everlasting flowers cling to the alpine desert, as delicately hoofed klipspringers mark the hike progress rewarding a great view of the Kilimanjaro summit.
