MBALI MBALI GOMBE LODGE

Mbali Mbali Gombe is situated within Gombe Stream National Park, a slender stretch of ancient montane forest alongside Lake Tanganyika, the world’s second deepest lake. The lodge features six Forest Tents: one double Safari Tent with a king bed for up to two guests, and five twin Safari Tents, each equipped with two single beds for two guests. All tents are perched on wooden platforms under mango trees by the lakeshore, offering an ensuite bathroom and a private, furnished balcony. Children of any age are welcome at the lodge, though Tanzania National Parks regulations require that participants in chimpanzee trekking be at least 15 years old.

The lodge’s luxury tents are thoughtfully designed to provide maximum comfort while minimizing environmental impact. Your stay includes accommodation, three daily meals (dinner, breakfast, and lunch or packed lunch), three complimentary drinks per meal (including water, soft drinks, and beer), water during the chimpanzee trek, one chimpanzee trek per day, kayaking, laundry service, Tourism Development Levy, and VAT. Guests who stay for more than two nights receive a complimentary return boat transfer between Kigoma Hilltop Hotel and the lodge, as well as complimentary return airport transfers between Kigoma Airport and the hotel.

At Mbali Mbali Gombe, you can enjoy chimpanzee trekking, guided walking safaris with bird watching, and various water activities. Cultural experiences include visiting the nearby Mwamgongo fishing village, observing palm oil extraction, learning embroidery and boat-making, experiencing traditional dances, touring the chief’s palace, exploring the lake by kayak, enjoying sundowners by a campfire on the beach, and engaging in boat safaris and fishing at an additional cost.
