Nestled within the Mara Triangle region of Serengeti National Park, Mara Under Canvas offers a front-row seat to one of nature’s greatest spectacles. Positioned near the Mara River, where the dramatic wildebeest migration unfolds annually, the camp provides a unique vantage point for witnessing the thrilling river crossings, where wildebeest face off against crocodiles in their quest for lush pastures. This luxurious mobile camp relocates throughout the year to remain close to the action of the Migration. From December to March, it is set up on the southern plains as Ndutu Under Canvas. It moves to the eastern corridor from June to July, and then to the northern regions from August to November. The exact location depends on the Migration’s movements, with travel from Arusha varying between 8 to 10 hours based on the camp’s current position. Mara Under Canvas features ten double tents and a family tent, ensuring a secluded and exclusive experience. The camp’s main area, elevated on a wooden platform, offers stunning views of the Serengeti’s endless plains. Guests can relax in comfort with plush sofas, enjoy indoor and outdoor dining, and gather around a campfire each evening to watch the sunset with drinks and appetizers. When weather allows, dinner is served al fresco under the stars. The tents are set at ground level with private porches and overlook the savannah. They are spacious and comfortable, offering either one double bed or two twin beds, along with a bathroom featuring a bucket shower. The family tent includes two connected tents with a shared bathroom and private porch. Every aspect of Mara Under Canvas is designed to provide an immersive and intimate safari experience. From the private verandas where guests can observe the Great Migration and stunning African sunsets, to special activities like private sundowners and hot air balloon safaris, every moment at Mara Under Canvas is crafted to be an unforgettable adventure into the wilderness.
