Serengeti Pioneer Camp is nestled on a secluded kopje in the South Central Serengeti, near the Moru Kopjes, providing breathtaking views of the vast Serengeti plains that seem to stretch endlessly into the distance. This remarkable landscape, shaped by ancient volcanic activity and molded by shifting climates, transitions from open grass plains in the south to savannah grasslands with scattered acacia trees in the center. To the north, you’ll find hilly woodlands, while the west features extensive forests and black clay plains. The camp is conveniently located just an hour’s flight from Arusha airport to Seronera airstrip, followed by a 50-minute drive.
Serengeti Pioneer Camp offers unparalleled access to the annual migration and opportunities to spot the ‘Big 5.’ The camp’s strategic location provides sweeping vistas of Moru Kopjes, Lake Magadi, and the endless plains. Designed to reflect the spirit of the 1930s mobile camps, Serengeti Pioneer Camp offers a unique and intimate experience, with its ‘zero footprint’ approach and close connection to nature.
The camp features twelve tented accommodations, including a 2-bedroom family tent. Each tent is adorned with canvas-covered floors, luxurious soft furnishings, a writing desk, and period-inspired decor. En-suite facilities include a flushing toilet, vanity basin, and classic hot showers. The tent interiors transport guests back to a bygone era, blending vintage charm with modern comfort.
Guests can enjoy meals in the dining tent, with breakfast and dinner served at the camp and lunches often enjoyed in the bush during thrilling Serengeti excursions. Other amenities include queen-sized beds with mosquito nets, bedside tables with period-style lamps, clothes dressers, hat stands, and solar-heated hot water. The outdoor areas feature canvas-covered awnings with comfortable furniture, while indoor lounge chairs provide a cozy retreat.
The lodge offers a range of activities, including day-long game drives, bush picnics at private sites, sundowners on the sunset deck, campfire dining under the starlit African skies, and balloon safaris, among other unforgettable experiences.
