RAS MBISI LODGE

Ras Mbisi Lodge is ideally located on a pristine beach on Mafia Island’s west coast, accessible by a short 30-minute flight from Dar es Salaam domestic airport in a small plane. The lodge features accommodations crafted from local coco-wood by skilled artisans, with nine spacious ‘open tent’ bandas situated mere meters from the powdery white sand. Each banda includes a private bathroom and a balcony designed to maximize the stunning views. The furniture, also made from coco-wood, reflects the craftsmanship of local builders.

The lodge offers a dining experience that blends traditional Swahili flavors with international influences, focusing on fresh fish and seafood sourced from the Indian Ocean. Many vegetables are harvested from the lodge’s garden, and eggs come from their own chicken farm. Guests can enjoy various activities, such as sunset cruises, excursions to Chole Island, Chunga Ruma lakes, and Mlola Forest, and visits to Kilindoni, Ras Kisimani, or the Marine Park in Chole Bay. Additionally, the lodge organizes fishing trips, snorkeling from traditional dhows, scuba diving, sea kayaking, sailing in traditional boats with local boatmen, and canoeing in dug-outs. The lodge also boasts a swimming pool.
