Kisima Ngeda Camp is situated in Mikocheni Village by Lake Eyasi, roughly 71.9 kilometers from Lake Manyara airport, which takes about 1.5 hours to drive. Nestled in a fever tree forest and backed by a rugged hill, this charming camp offers views over the seasonal saltwater Lake Eyasi. It features eight palm-roofed tented chalets with private wooden deck verandas, seamlessly blending into the surrounding forest. Each chalet boasts a king-sized bed, a cozy armchair, and an en-suite bathroom equipped with a walk-in shower and separate toilet. Water for bathing is heated using a traditional Tanganyika boiler that burns palm fronds. The decor includes brass coil lampshades and handcrafted metal-framed mirrors, reflecting local craftsmanship.
Guests can enjoy sundowners on their tent decks, while the communal areas provide wholesome meals prepared by local chefs in a palm-thatched bar, lounge, and dining room. The main area, with wooden floors and palm-thatched roofs, includes a comfortable bar and lounge with cushioned seating, and the dining room offers stunning views of the lake. The cuisine features organic and seasonal ingredients from local producers, with some essentials imported. All meals, including bread and ice cream, are freshly made by skilled chefs from the local community who regularly update their training to maintain high standards.
The camp’s pool, hidden in the forest beneath a rocky ridge, is a favorite spot for families to cool off. The area is equipped with recliner chairs and parasols. As the day ends, a Tanganyika boiler heats water for a relaxing shower, accompanied by the soothing sounds of Nightjars and the forest.
